These terms are an agreement between you and BYTESIZE, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company operating as Pinch, and they govern your use of the Pinch application. The waitlist and marketing website have their own terms; these are the ones that matter once you sign in.
What Pinch is
A personal-finance application: it connects to your financial accounts through our data providers (Plaid and MX), imports your transactions and balances, and gives you tools — including an AI assistant — to organise and understand them.
What Pinch is not
- It is not financial advice. Nothing in the application — including anything Penny, the AI assistant, says — is investment, tax, legal, or financial advice. Penny is a language model working from your data; it can be wrong, and it does not know your circumstances. Decisions are yours.
- It is not your bank. Pinch reads data; it cannot move your money, and it has no control over your accounts. The numbers shown are copies that can lag or differ from your institution’s records — your institution’s records are authoritative, and you should verify anything that matters against them.
- It is not a data source of record. Providers occasionally deliver data late, amended, or wrong; we display what we receive.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older.
- One account, yours: keep your credentials to yourself, and tell us at security@pinch.cash if you believe your account has been compromised.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done with API tokens you create.
Connecting financial accounts
You connect institutions through Plaid or MX, and by doing so you also agree to their end-user terms and privacy policies (Plaid, MX). You confirm the accounts you connect are yours to connect. You can disconnect any institution in the application at any time, which revokes our access at the provider.
Early access
Pinch is in early access, by invitation. During early access it is free to use. Pinch will be a paid product with no free tier, and we reserve the right to end the free early-access period and move to paid pricing at any time. When that happens we will tell you clearly and in advance, and continuing to use Pinch past that point will require agreeing to the price — you will never be charged silently, and if you decline you can take your data and delete your account as described in the privacy policy.
What we ask of you
- Do not attack the service: no probing, overloading, scraping other users, or attempting unauthorised access.
- Do not use Pinch to process data you have no right to process.
- Do not abuse the AI features — they are for your finances, not a general-purpose model endpoint.
If you do these things we may suspend or close your account. If we close it for abuse, we will still honour your data rights under the privacy policy.
Leaving
Delete your account whenever you like — the privacy policy describes exactly what deletion does to the product (everything, permanently). Feedback you have sent is handled separately, as that policy explains. We hope you’ll tell us why, but you do not have to.
Our software
Nothing about our software grants any right to the Pinch or Penny names or branding, which remain ours. Your data is yours.
Service, warranty, liability
We provide the application with care, but as it is: we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular feature will remain. We may change the application over time.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability arising from these terms or your use of the application is capped at the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are in particular not liable for financial decisions you make based on data or suggestions shown in the application.
Changes
These terms carry a version number. If we change them in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the application or by email before the change takes effect, and continuing to use Pinch after it does means you accept the new terms. The version and date above always identify the terms in force.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the place you live.
Contact
privacy@pinch.cash for anything about your data; security@pinch.cash for security reports; either will reach us for anything else about these terms.
