Prepared 23 transactions for your review. Two I couldn't place, including a $340 charge at "SP MERCH CO".
Every kind of account in one ledger, including the house and the car.
Every suggestion shows its reasoning and waits for you.
File a merchant the same way three times and it proposes the rule.
Anything the app can do, a script can do.
THE TOUR
Pinch is built so most of that work takes a minute. What's left is the part worth looking at.
01 ยท REVIEW
New transactions arrive already filed, each with a suggestion and the reason: a rule you wrote, a merchant you've filed before, or Penny looking at the charge. Accept a whole day at once, or fix the one that's wrong.

Connect your banks, cards, brokerages and loans. Add the house, the car, and anything you can only value by hand. All of it counts, and Pinch keeps the history so you can see the line move.

RHYTHM & HARMONY
Every other budget is a rule you invented in January and broke by February. After that, the app's only job is telling you so. Pinch doesn't ask you to write one. It reads your ledger's own history for what a typical month looks like for you, category by category, and sets this month next to it: what came in, what was committed, what was discretionary, and what you kept.
DAY 9 OF 31
$368kept so far
โผ $412 under your typical month
The tick on each track is typical for this ledger by day 9, derived from your own history, not a target anyone set.
Each kind of finding is treated differently.

TREND
Three months agree, so it isn't noise. You hear about the habit while it's still small.
OUTLIER
$900.00vs $85 typical
Held out of what your typical learns, so a repair never becomes normal and next month never reads as a spending drop.
HARMONY
Dining out and one travel weekend account for nearly all of it. Committed spend is exactly where it usually is. No plan, no prescription, nothing to acknowledge.
Hand it to PennyWHERE THE GIVE IS ยท TYPICAL LEFT
A month tracking its typical has no Harmony section at all. There is nothing here to dismiss, snooze, or explain yourself to.
03 ยท PENNY
Ask her anything about your money in ordinary language. She reads your ledger, not the internet. She can also do the work: categorize a backlog, map a messy CSV, or add the category you're missing. Every change she wants to make is shown to you first and needs your yes.
Did we spend more on eating out this summer than last?
Yes. $1,412 across Jun to Aug, up 18% from $1,197 last year. Most of the gap is two restaurant weekends in July.
Jun $487.20 + Jul $612.55 + Aug $312.41
Those two Deliveroo charges are actually groceries. Fix them and remember it.
APPROVAL NEEDED
04 ยท RECURRING
Pinch reads the rhythm in your history and builds the month's calendar itself: what's paid, what's due, what stopped charging you. You can rename a series or dismiss one you don't care about. After that, there is nothing to maintain.
August ยท recurring
$3,284 expected
Detected from your history. Nothing to set up by hand.
05 ยท IMPORTS
Drop the file in. Penny works out which column is which, and you confirm. Duplicates are flagged before anything lands. The whole batch is undoable as one, and the next file from the same bank maps itself.
LEDGERS & FAMILIES
A ledger is the thing Pinch shares. Accounts, transactions, categories and rules belong to the ledger, not to you, so you can keep as many as your life needs and invite the people who belong in each one. Switch between them like tabs. Net worth, review, Rhythm and Penny all follow the ledger you're in.
LEDGERS
HOUSEHOLD ยท MEMBERS
The Sapphire card is kept out of this ledger. Visibility is per account, not all-or-nothing.
MUM & DAD
Their accounts live in a ledger you keep, and they can open the picture any time. No shared login, no forwarded statements, no monthly phone call to ask how it's going.
HOUSEHOLD
One ledger holding both your accounts, and the same month story in front of both of you, instead of a spreadsheet one of you maintains and the other never opens.
NORDVIK LLC
A separate ledger with its own accounts, categories and rules. Same login, never mixed into your household's numbers.
FOR POWER USERS
Everything the app does, the API does. Same endpoints, no private back doors, scoped access tokens you issue yourself. Pipe your net worth into a spreadsheet, script your imports, or put a balance in your terminal prompt. Even Penny is just an API client.
Pinch will ship with a pinch CLI over that same API. This is what it will look like at launch.
PRICING
Pinch is paid because it doesn't sell your data or your attention. Pick the plan with the assistant, the one without, or the one that covers the whole house.
The full tracker, filed by hand.
Everything, and the assistant that does the tedium.
Everything above, for the whole household.
FAQ
Something missing? Ask when you get your invite. We answer every reply.
No. It won't hand you a budget to write. A budget you author is a guess, and reality usually diverges from it within a week. After that the app mostly nags you about a rule you invented. Pinch derives the same answers from your own history instead: what a typical month looks like for you, how this one is tracking, and what changed. That's Rhythm. There is nothing in it to maintain.
Not in Rhythm, on purpose. No number in it is set, adjusted, or pinned by you, which is why it can't be broken, go stale, or become a chore. A goal is a different idea (can I afford this by June?) โ a destination you author, measured against your real trajectory rather than an envelope you invented. Where that belongs in Pinch, we haven't settled yet. We'd rather take the time to design something worth having than bolt a target onto Rhythm and lose the thing that makes it work.
That's what ledgers are for. Your accounts and transactions belong to a ledger rather than directly to you, so a ledger can have members: invite by email, and keep an individual account out of a ledger you share. Sharing arrives after launch. Everything you connect before then is already in a ledger, ready for it.
She proposes a category for every incoming transaction and shows why, figures out the columns in a CSV you upload, and answers questions about your own ledger. When she wants to change something (recategorize a batch, write a rule), she asks first. You approve or decline in the conversation.
No. Reading is free. Every write is a proposal you have to approve in the moment. An approval you ignore expires. She asks again next time rather than queueing up changes behind your back.
Pinch connects through established aggregation providers, so your bank credentials go to them, never to us. Some institutions are only reachable through one provider, so Pinch supports several: you pick one when you connect, and Pinch tells you what each can deliver for your bank.
Keep it as a manual account: enter balances yourself, or import the CSV your bank exports. Manual accounts count toward net worth exactly like connected ones, and review, rules, recurring and the rest all work on them. Only live holdings and investment activity need a connection.
Disconnecting severs the sync, not the data. Those accounts become manual accounts with their full history intact. Your ledger is exportable at any time, in bulk, through the same API the app uses.
Not at this time. Pinch has real per-user costs (aggregation and AI) and no ad business, so the near-term focus is paid premium features. A free tier isn't outside the realm of possibility later, but we won't promise one we haven't costed. The waitlist is free, and we'll publish pricing before launch.
We're letting people in a batch at a time so the imports and the assistant hold up. Leave your email and we'll send an invite when it's your turn.
